The PIHL released its playoff brackets over the weekend. Four Butler County teams will be participating.

Class A

Mars (20-2) earned the top seed and a first-round bye. The Planets will host a quarterfinal game at 6 p.m. March 17 at Warrendale BladeRunners against an opponent to be determined.

• Knoch (14-8) is the seventh seed and will host No. 10 Center (10-12) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Valley Sports Complex.

• Freeport (7-13-1) is seeded 11th and will face No. 6 Hampton (14-7-1) at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ice Connection.

Class AAA

Seneca Valley (16-5-1) took the fourth seed and gets a first-round bye. The Raiders will host a quarterfinal game at 7:30 p.m. March 16 at Warrendale BladeRunners with an opponent to be determined.

The Slippery Rock High girls basketball team, the District 10 Class AAA champion, will play a PIAA first-round playoff at 5 p.m. Saturday at Slippery Rock University's Morrow Fieldhouse.The Rockets (22-2) will face the winner of Tuesday night's play-in game between Blackhawk (14-8) and Westinghouse (19-6).

Slippery Rock University senior pole vaulter Jen Hansen has been named the Atlantic Region Female Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.In February, Hansen claimed her fourth PSAC indoor championship in the pole vault, posting the fourth-best effort in the nation this season at 3.9 meters.

MIAMI — Safety Ryan Clark's first visit in free agency will be with the Miami Dolphins.Clark arrived Sunday in South Florida and will meet with Dolphins officials Monday, said his agent, Joel Turner. The Dolphins are in the market to replace safety Gibril Wilson, released Friday after one disappointing season in Miami.Clark spent the past four seasons with the Steelers, helping them win the Super Bowl in 2009.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed free agent Aaron Kampman as a step toward solving their pass-rushing problems.The two-time Pro Bowl defensive end in eight seasons with Green Bay signed with the Jaguars on Sunday.
