John R. Zenewicz Sr.
John R. Zenewicz Sr., 67, of 1014 Walnut St., Tarentum, West Deer Township, died at 8:49 p.m. Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He had been ill for two months.
Born May 28, 1942, in William-sport, he was the son of Joseph Zenewicz and Margaret Ann (Chilson) Zenewicz.
He was a 35-year resident of West Deer Township and formerly lived in Creighton.
Mr. Zenewicz was a union carpenter with Local Union 333, New Kensington, for 20 years. He also operated the Zenewicz Service Station in Fawn Township for 10 years.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Ranger.
He was a member of the Bull Creek Presbyterian Church in West Deer Township and was a former member of the Pollock Lodge 502 F&AM in Tarentum and the Eastern Star.
He was a high school graduate, attended Penn State for one year and also attended the Auto Trade School in Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed fishing, especially in Lake Ontario. He also enjoyed playing poker and casinos, but most of all, he enjoyed his family, children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Cheryl L. (Callen) Zenewicz; two sons, John R. (Stacy) Zenewicz Jr. of West Deer Township and Jamie R. (Arlene) Zenewicz of West Deer Township; a daughter, Jodie L. (Frederick) Davis of Canonsburg; four grandchildren, Lillian, Margaret, Caroline and Julianne; and two brothers, Joseph (Linda) Zenewicz II of Rome, Pa., and Thomas (Barbara) Zenewicz of Gibsonia. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lillian; and two brothers, Raymond and Stanley Zenewicz.

Zenewicz Sr., who died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Duster Funeral Home</B>, 10th Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. W. James Legge, his pastor, officiating.
