Helen V. Cookson

Helen V. Cookson, 87, of Slippery Rock passed away at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday at Grove City Medical Center.

She was born April 6, 1922, in Keister, Slippery Rock Township. She was the daughter of the late Clair Deloss Sankey and Margaret Mary Gardner Sankey.

She was a 1941 graduate of Butler High School. She attended Butler Beauty School in 1942 and owned and operated a beauty shop in Keister for seven years. She and her husband had managed Petr-All Oil Co. gas stations in Wisconsin and New York.

She was a member of the Slippery Rock Senior Center and Branchton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Susan Charlene) Fiegel of Wisconsin and Mrs. Robert (Pamela Margaret) Genovese of New York; one son, Gary Dale Cookson and his wife, Marilyn, of Michigan; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Harry (Joyce) Ramsey of Ohio, 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. William (Lucille) Puryear of Slippery Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Cookson, who passed away May 22, 1992; one son, Robert Lawrence Cookson; two sisters; and one brother.

<B>COOKSON</B> — A memorial service for Helen V. Cookson, who died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Branchton United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Lewis, her pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in West Sunbury Cemetery.Arrangements are being handled by <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, West Sunbury.
