Lang

Florinda F. "Nin" Lang, born in Butler, Nov. 19, 1923, died Saturday at her home in Butler.

She was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Florinda F. "Flora" Cubbison Lang.

Nin was a lifelong member of the St. Peter Parish Family Church in Butler.

She retired in 1984 after 38 years with the Troutman Department Stores, a unit of the Allied Stores Corp., New York, as credit systems manager and senior credit analyst for the corporation. She worked 31 years as general credit and office manager and staff assistant controller for the Troutman Store Group, until she was transferred to the corporation office in Greensburg in 1976.

She was the first woman to be elected to the executive board of directors for the Butler Credit Bureau of Butler County. She also served as president of the Pittsburgh International Credit Women's Association and the Butler Credit Women's Association, along with serving on both advisory boards for a number of years. She was general conference chairwoman for the Mid-Atlantic Conference of International Credit Professionals, District 12.

She was a member of the Butler Catholic School Advisory Board and was president of that board for two years. She was a charter member of the board of directors for the Franciscan Sisters of St. Clare, Franklin, Wis., for a number of years. She was the editor of the Franciscan Courier Monthly Documents for 10 years. She also served as its financial director. She was a lay associate of the Second Order of St. Francis.

She was a past president of the alumni unit of the Junior Catholic Daughters of America Drum and Bugle Corps, a past member of the pastoral council at St. Peter Parish Family Church, a past member of the pastoral council of her church and presently served on the finance committee for St. Peter's Church. For a number of years, she was in charge of the funeral luncheon committee for St. Peter's. She was the church historian and a lay minister, serving in all official capacities for the Phase II Group and a member of the women's council at her church.

Being an avid reader, interested in history and music, she had a well-rounded knowledge of many subjects including mathematics and family history. She studied with LaSalle University and was an instructor for the executive training courses offered by Allied Stores Corp., her then employer.

She is survived by one nephew, Gerald T. Lang of Rosebud, S.D.; two nieces, Mrs. Richard (Gretchen Lang) Petrarca of Erie and Margaret M. Lang of St. Augustine, Fla.; one grandniece, Mrs. Sean (Lori Lang) Clarkson of Westerville, Ohio; three grandnephews, Nicholas and Jordan Petrarca of Erie and Brian T. Lang of Westerville, Ohio; a great-grandniece, Kelsey Clarkson; and two great-grandnephews, Joseph Petrarca and Colton Clarkson. She also is survived by her best friend, Jean Mosesso.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and a brother, Frank T. Lang.

<B>LANG</B> — Friends of Florinda F. "Nin" Lang, who died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Father James Dolan and Father Jack Nanz will concelebrate.
