Virginia K. Pruett, 85, formerly of Butler, died Nov. 18, 2009, at the Charles County Nursing Home in LaPlata, Md.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1923, in Chattanooga, Tenn., the seventh child of the late Marshall G. Keown Sr. and Minerva Taylor Adams Keown.

She was devoted both to her Baptist faith and to her family.

She was the widow of Harry Glenn Pruett Jr., who she married Nov. 24, 1942, and who died Sept. 1, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters, Glenda F. Smith and her husband, Scott A. Smith, of Butler, MaryKay George and her husband Roy A. George of RutherGlen, Va.; a son, Harry Glenn Pruett III of Florida; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

She was laid to rest beside her husband on Dec. 15, 2009, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
