Betty S. Phythyon

Betty S. Phythyon, 86, of 1561 Christy Road, Hermitage, died at 10:30 Monday evening at the Sharon Regional Health System.

Born Aug. 25, 1923, in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Ursula Graham Fricker.

She was a 1941 graduate of Sharon High School and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Sharon. Betty was a graduate of Sharon General Hospital Nursing School and had been employed there for 15 years as a general duty nurse. She later did nursing at John XXII nursing home for five years and after that for MCAR.

She and close friends had a card club for many years, and she at one time enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Her husband, Robert H. Phythyon, a former Sharon police officer, who she married April 27, 1944, died March 23, 1990.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann Phythyon with whom she made her home; two sons, William J. Phythyon and his wife, Darlene, of Westerville, Ohio, and Barry R. Phythyon and his wife, Cheryl, of Chicora; grandchildren, James, Erme, Dianna Phythyon, Stacey Miller, Shawn Phythyon, Amy McConnell, Carrie Wagner, Sara Weyen, Mollie Phythyon; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce R. Phythyon; a granddaughter, Kristie Lynn Phythyon; and a brother, Richard J. Fricker.

<B>PHYTHYON</B> — Friends of Betty S. Phythyon, who died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 E. State St., Sharon. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Glenn Whitman, pastor, officiating.Arrangements are by <B>Joseph P. Brashen Funeral Service</B>, 263 E. State St., Sharon.
