William D. Plaisted, 78, of Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, formerly of Saxonburg, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 31, 1931, in Butler, he was the son of the late Roy C. Plaisted and Anna Stewart Plaisted.

Mr. Plaisted was a brick mason. He was a member of Bricklayer's Union 17. He retired as a custodian from the Community Alliance Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart and the Korean Service Ribbon.

He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed painting on canvas, and he loved singing praises to his Lord.

Mr. Plaisted is survived by three daughters, Brenda G. Thompson and her husband, Paul, of Chicora, Karen L. Thomas and her husband, David, of Portersville and Linda S. Plaisted and her husband, Mark Spotts, of Clarksburg, Md; one son, Jeffrey M. Plaisted of Fort Mill, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Plaisted was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Plaisted, who died Nov. 28, 2002; two brothers, and seven sisters.

<B>Plaisted </B>— Friends of William D. Plaisted, who died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Community Alliance Church with the Rev. Ted Harris of Community Alliance Church officiating.
