Homer L. "Ike" Ikenberg, 83, formerly of Mars and Renfrew, died Saturday morning at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born in Valencia, Oct. 16, 1926, he was the son of the late Howard T. and Wilda M. Orr Ikenberg.

He retired after 31 years as a welder for Woodward's Inc. in Mars. He also was a school bus driver for A.J. Myers and Sons in Mars.

Mr. Ikenberg was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and belonged to the Mars American Legion Post 787.

A licensed private pilot who flew out of the Butler Farm Show grounds, he also belonged to the Butler County Pilots' Association and the Sheriff's Aero-Posse.

He was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Carol A. Livingston Ikenberg, who he married June 11, 1955; a son, Howard E. Ikenberg and his wife, Carole, of Renfrew; and his grandchildren, Jason, Jessica and Ashley Ikenberg.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard E. Ikenberg.
