AKRON, Ohio — The longest-standing track and field record in Slippery Rock University history fell twice during Saturday's Akron Invitational.

Bill Price held the previous record of 1 minute, 54.07 seconds in the 800 meters, set in 1983. Kevin Jewell won his heat Saturday in 1:53.42. Phil Rector later topped that with a 1:52.78.

Rector's and Jewell's times are the two fastest in the PSAC this season.

ITHACA, N.Y. — Seneca Valley graduate Alyson Intihar, a senior softball player at Cornell University, is one of 30 nominees nationwide for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.This award is presented to the senior Division I softball player best exemplifying a student athlete with character and leadership. Intihar is the only Ivy League player nominated.She carries a 3.72 grade point average as an applied economics and management major, is a team captain and was the 2009 Ivy League Player of the Year.
