Gertrude Johanson
Gertrude "Trudie" Johanson, 91, formerly of Saxonburg, died Wednesday at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Born May 28, 1918, in Hamtramack, Mich., she was the daughter of Josephine Bloch.
She worked as a secretary and accountant for Kane Hospital.
She was a member of the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church and choir and the Pittsburgh Art Guild.
She was an artist who enjoyed painting. She also played basketball for the Senior Olympics and was active in politics. Trudie enjoyed playing bridge, sewing and singing.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellie (George) Nosky of Canton, Mich.; her daughter-in-law, Joan Johanson of Russellton, Pa.; her four grandchildren, Michael (Deena) Johanson of Cabot, Brian Johanson of Russellton, Shari (Craig) Saunders of Virginia and Heather Christenson of Michigan; and her eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Allison, Lauren and Dominic Johanson and Mark, Jack and Luke Saunders.
Preceding her in death were her mother; her husband, Tage Johanson; a son, Robert Johanson; two brothers; and one sister.
<B>JOHANSON</B> — Friends of Gertrude "Trudie" Johanson, who died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
