Hnatko

Harry "Herb" Hnatko, 85, of Weitzel Road in Butler died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Butler, a son of the late Michael and Helena Lazorchuk Hnatko.

Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Marines during World War II. He served in the Marines for more than 10 years and became a master sergeant.

Following the service, Harry married Rose Boss on May 27, 1945.

He worked in the shipping department at Butler Armco. He retired after 31 years.

Harry was a life member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler and the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

He enjoyed golfing and especially loved gardening.

He was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Boss Hnatko; his daughter, Patricia Ann Hnatko of Butler; one brother, the Very Rev. George H. Hnatko of Indiana, Pa.; and one sister, Mrs. Irving (Ann) Medina of Los Angeles, Calif. Five nephews, two grandnieces and a grandnephew also survive.

Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

<B>HNATKO </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Harry "Herb" Hnatko, who died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora with Father Paisius McGrath, pastor, officiating.
