CRANBERRY TWP — The Oak Tree Place development that is under construction near the former site of the Oak Leaf Motel now will include a new suites hotel.

Revised plans for the development that includes a new Candlewood Suites that will have 74 rooms and be built on the northeast corner of the site. The chain has a hotel near the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport.

The township supervisors are expected to approve the plan revisions March 4.

That site was originally planned for two restaurants, a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and later a Golden Corral buffet style restaurant, but both of those businesses pulled out of the development.

The new hotel is part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group, base in England, which has recognized U.S. hotel chains of Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza.

Oak Tree Place is a redevelopment of the section of Route 19 that begins at the former motel site and includes Denny-Jorden's Service Center, which has relocated to another building on Rochester Road, and a Gulf Station, located near the corner of Freeport Road and Route 19 in Marshall Township.

The Route 19 development was approved two years ago for 40,511-square-foot development that includes a mix of restaurants and small shops.

The plaza has three other restaurants under construction: Chipotle, a Mexican-style restaurant; the Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar; and Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

Other tenants announced for the development are Aspen Dental and Anytime Tan.
