Barbara Summerill
Barbara Summerill, 99, of Weston, Fla., formerly of Butler, died Monday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Born Jan. 12, 1910, in East Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Margaret Elizabeth Bruce McKeag.
She had moved to Florida about 15 years ago, but had continued to return to the Butler area each summer.
A homemaker, Mrs. Summerill was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Meridian and St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Weston.
She was an avid bridge player.
She was the widow of Franklyn H. Summerill, who died May 14, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Summerill. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of 10 children.
Surviving are four daughters, Barbara Lipnichan of Bruin, twins, Patricia Bohin, and her long time companion, Dave Cavalero of Butler, and Peggy Frole and her husband, Eugene, of Weston, Fla., and Florence Pappas and her husband John of Oceanside, Calif. There are also 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
<B>SUMMERILL</B> — Visitation and a funeral Mass for Barbara Summerill who died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, will be in Florida. A local memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler. The Rev. James Murphy, pastor, will officiate.
