Butler Crops Day set for Feb. 10

As part of the 2010 Western PA Crops Meeting Tour, the Penn State Cooperative Extension will host Butler Crops Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 10 at the East Butler Fire Hall.

On the agenda are three topics: "Corn and Soybean Insect Update," "Crow and Bird Damage in Corn" and "Pesticide Safety."

The first topic will focus on soybean aphids, western bean cutworms and sorting through corn traits and will feature John Tooker, Penn State University entomology specialist.

The second topic will focus on crow biology and control options and will feature Craig Swope of USDA Wildlife Services.

The third segment, "Pesticide Safety" will feature Kevin Fry, Penn State Extension educator in agronomy.

Registration for the meeting is required and costs $5. The registration fee includes lunch and is due by Friday.
