John Thomas Helsel, 60, of Butler died Friday at his home.

Born Feb. 9, 1949, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of John Thomas and Katherine (Paris) Helsel.

He was an IT professional and an Internet radio DJ. He raised birds, was a certified Chinese chef, and enjoyed entertaining friends and family.

Surviving are his fiancee, Chelley Young of Butler; two daughters, Christi Helsel of New York, N.Y., and Jennifer (David) Gray of Doha, Qatar, and his sister, Kathy (John) Miller of Atlanta.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
