SLIPPERY ROCK, — The River North Chicago Dance Company, celebrating its 20th anniversary season, has included Slippery Rock University in its 12-stop U.S. tour, with a performance scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 as part of the university's Performing Arts Series.
The show in Miller Auditorium will also feature SRU dance majors. A pre-performance dinner will be offered in the University Club of North Hall.
The Chicago-based company is well known for its performances. Under the artistic direction of Frank Chaves, the jazz-based contemporary company embodies a flavor of "Americana."
Tickets are $20 for adults; $18 for senior citizens and those age 17 and under, and $8 for SRU students. Call 724-738-2018.
The campus contract food vendor, AVI Food Service, will offer a pre-performance, four-course dinner, including soup, salad, chicken and apple pie. Dinner reservations may be made by calling 724-738-4245.
The final event in the series is Barrage presenting "Animado!," a fiddle-fest featuring an international cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance. That performance will be at 7:30 p.m. March 20.
The tour of River North Chicago Dance Company is made possible by a grant from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program.
