Armagost nets 31 as Moniteau wins at KC

Kyle Armagost scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Moniteau boys basketball team to a 68-58 road win over rival Karns City on Saturday.

With the game tied at 20 late in the first half, Armagost went on a personal 8-0 run to give the Warriors a 28-20 lead at the break.

If that wasn't enough, he opened the third quarter in the same manner, scoring eight consecutive points to open up a 36-20 lead.

KC got back into the game, but the Warriors closed the action with a 20-10 run.

For the game, Armagost was 11-of-13 from the field, while teammate Zach Sloan was 8-of-9, scoring 18 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

After beginning the season 1-3, the Warriors (3-3 overall) went 18 days without playing a game.

Since then, the team is 2-0, including a 69-38 drubbing of Redbank Valley last Wednesday.

"That two and a half week rest really helped," said Moniteau coach Randy Armagost. "I got it through the kids' heads to be patient on offense, don't just throw it up.

"We got a lot of things squared away and are ready to make a run."

Brandon Collier paced KC (2-4, 2-2) with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Eric McCue chipped in with 15 points and Evan Olszak 10 for the Gremlins.
