'Celeb' waiters help raise $2K for BMH program
Celebrity Waits in December raised more than $2,300 for Butler Health System's youth programs, with $1,250 collected in tips and $1,106 raised selling raffle tickets.Celebrity Waits were held at Quaker Steak and Lube in Cranberry Township, Texas Roadhouse at the Clearview Mall in Butler and Red Rock Falls Restaurant in Slippery Rock. Servers volunteered to donate their tips during these evenings to the health system's Caring Angel Program, which supports youth services of Butler Health System.Local celebrities who teamed up with servers at each restaurant included Butler County Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, Butler Radio Network personality Bob Cupps,Artist Tom Panei, Butler School District superintendent Ed Fink, Slippery Rock Elementary principal Herb Basham, teachers and administrators from the ButlerSlippery Rock Area School districts, Cranberry Township manager Jerry Andre, and other township supervisors and administrators.———
Primary students at the Irene Stacy Children's Partial Program in Butler read 100 books as part of Scholastic's ClassroomCare program, a literacy-based campaign designed to teach children about the joys and importance of reading and giving.As classrooms nationwide meet the goal of reading 100 books, Scholastic and their charity partners work to donate one million books to disadvantaged children.
