Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528 near the intersection of Routes 8 and 173, Slippery Rock, will host a winter trails day Jan. 9 and snowshoeing for beginners on snowy Saturdays starting Jan. 2. Registration is required by calling the center at 724-794-6011.
<B>Powdermill Nature Reserve</B> at 1847 Route 381 in Rector, Westmoreland County, the biological research station of Carnegie Museum of Natural History, is the site of a winter nature hike at 1 p.m. Saturday and Jan. 16, 23 and 30. Admission is free; no registration required. "How Animals Survive Freezing Temperatures" will be presented Sunday by Andrew Vitz, Powdermill avian ecologist and banding program coordinator.
