The Toys for Tots drive is spearheaded by the Bantam Marines of Butler with a lot of help from the American Legion Riders, spouses and friends — all volunteers.

We have about 100 volunteers who give of their time and money servicing more than 200 drop sites. Each toy is picked up, unloaded, counted, sorted by age and gender, order-filled and staged alphabetically to be picked up on family day. The major portion of these toys were contributed by the very generous citizens of Butler County.

This year we provided gifts to well over 2,300 children, and I hope they enjoyed receiving those gifts as much as we enjoyed distributing them.

Thanks are in order to everyone involved for a job well done. And a special thanks is due our Toys for Tots coordinator, for whom the campaign is a year-round experience.
