Free drive-through H1N1 flu clinic set

Volunteers sought to help Jan. 8, 9

CRANBERRY TWP — A free, drive-through inoculation clinic for H1N1 flu will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 8 and 9 at the Manheim Pittsburgh Auto Auction, formerly the Butler Auto Auction, at 21095 Route 19.

It is part of a statewide network of 33 clinics being organized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to immunize residents.

To receive the vaccine, individuals must schedule an appointment in advance, either online or by phone.

To register online, go to www.H1N1in PA.com and follow the links to Vaccine Locations in PA under the column heading "What's Hot."

For phone registration, call 877-724-3258 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

Dozens of volunteers will be needed to handle the logistical, administrative and support aspects of the clinic and as possible backup personnel for the staff paramedics.

Cranberry officials are encouraging civic, church, or community organizations to volunteer for this.

Volunteers should go to the township's Web site, www.cranberrytownship.org/fluclinic, to register.

There is a link on that page to the state Department of Health's volunteer registry, SERVPA, where they will be asked to complete a 20 to 30 minute confidential questionnaire.

Volunteers can specify their interest in working the Cranberry Clinic in two steps. First, when asked to pick an affiliation, choose 'Emergency Management Agency.' Second, when asked to choose a unit, select 'Butler County Emergency Management,' and then click on 'I would like to join.'

For information, contact Jeffrey Schueler, Cranberry director of public safety at 724-776-4806, Ext. 1408.
