Viola Hope (Hunt) Salemi, 85, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Zelienople, died Friday at UPMC Cranberry Place, Cranberry Township.

Born April 26, 1924, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Norman C. and Sarah I. (Stacks) Hunt.

Mrs. Salemi was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Tanglewood Senior Center in Butler.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, dancing, singing and playing the piano.

She is survived by four daughters, Teresa D. Valentine and her husband, William, of Connoquenessing Township, Sarah Ann Smith and her husband, Frank, of Lumberton, N.C., Hope Cecelia Salemi of Penn, Pa., and Mary Ellen Corrigan and her husband, Edward, of Connoquenessing Township; a son, John I. Salemi of Waterville, Maine; and a sister, Mary Jean "Mickey" Shapiro of Bethesda, Md. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ignatius J. Salemi, who died March 25, 1994, and three brothers, Sam, Roland and Alfred Hunt.

<B>SALEMI</B> — Friends of Viola Hope (Hunt) Salemi, who died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Polley officiating.
