PITTSBURGH — The annual holiday tree display this year is themed "Useful Beauty — Celebrating the Decorative Arts" and it runs through Jan. 7 in the Hall of Architecture at the Carnegie Museum of Art, 4400 Forbes Ave.
Five 20-foot individual Colorado spruce trees line the hall, each individually adorned with themes that celebrate the decorative arts in honor of the reopening of the Ailsa Mellon Bruce Galleries.
An additional 10-foot tree is at the Carriage Drive entrance.
Also continuing through Jan. 7 is the Neapolitan presepio display. The Nativity scene has been a Pittsburgh holiday tradition since 1957.
Handcrafted by artisans between 1700 and 1830, the presepio features lifelike figures and colorful details that re-create the Nativity within a panorama of 18th century Italian village life.
Guided tours of the Neapolitan presepio are offered from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Sundays and noon to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Holiday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today as well as Monday and Dec. 31.
Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays with extended hours until 8 p.m. Thursdays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Closed Mondays, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Admission, which includes the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, is $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $11 for students with ID and children ages 3 to 18, and free for children younger than 3 and members.
