Matthew J. "Sonny" Sherlock Sr., 74, of Hampton Township died on Wednesday in the Center for Compassionate Care.

Born April 10, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Matthew J. and the late Ida (Charlton) Sherlock.

Mr. Sherlock was an operating engineer with Local 66 Operating Engineers. He enjoyed camping in the mountains and stock car racing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine (Plut) Sherlock of Hampton Township; a daughter, Cindy (James) Bearrow of Middlesex Township; and a son, Matthew (Lisa) J. Sherlock Jr. of Butler. He was the beloved grandfather of granddaughter Mandy Bearrow of Slippery Rock and three grandsons, Mike Bearrow of Middlesex Township, and Andrew Sherlock and Matthew Sherlock III of Butler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters, Peg Bauer, Ruth Spirk, Eileen Logel, and Ann Cannon; and his two stepbrothers, Lawrence Rice and Harold Rice.

<B>SHERLOCK</B> — Visitation for Matthew J. "Sonny" Sherlock Sr., who died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Herbert R.
