The Butler Township Fire Marshal's office conducted a poster contest for Fire Prevention Week in October.

The contest was for kindergarten through sixth grade students at McQuistion Elementary School, Meridian Elementary School and Northwest Elementary School. A student from each grade was awarded a trophy for the best poster.

A name was drawn for the Junior Fire Marshal from kindergarten through third grade and one from fourth through sixth grade.

Meridian Elementary School was awarded the traveling trophy for highest participation.

On Dec. 10, the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club held its annual holiday party. Winners were:
