PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Public Theater presents Second City's 50th anniversary tour today through Saturday at the theater at 621 Penn Ave.

The legendary Chicago theater group is internationally known for its cutting-edge satiric revues. Sketches, songs and improvisations from the 50-year history will be performed by five young comedians.

Second City began in 1959 as a small cabaret theater on Chicago's north side. Throughout the years it has been a launching pad for generations of comedy superstars, including Joan Rivers, Alan Arkin, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, John Candy, Steve Carell, Tina Fey and Stephen Colbert.

Patrons attending the performance tonight will be invited to have a piece of 50th anniversary cake in the lobby after the show.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. today and Friday and 5:30 and 9 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets range from $28 to $48; students and those age 26 and younger pay $15.
