Dr. Joseph A. Tamburo, D.D.S., 102, of Butler died Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 19, 1907, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Antonio and Augusta Taravella Tamburo.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, he practiced dentistry in Butler for 63 years, retiring at the age of 93.

He also was a former school dentist for the Butler School District.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where he was the oldest member of the congregation.

He was also a member of the American Dental Association.

He is survived by his wife, Violet Aquiline Tamburo, to whom he was married for 67 years; a son, Joseph A. Tamburo II of Fenelton; a sister, Mrs. Elvira Green of Pittsburgh; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
