Hockenberry

LaWanda A. Hockenberry, 75, of Cabot died Tuesday at the Chicora Medical Center.

She was born in Butler, Aug. 20, 1934, a daughter of the late H. Carl and Estella Ketterer Niggel.

Wanda was a certified nurses aide and had worked at several nursing homes and as a private duty caregiver for more than 35 years. Before that, for about 15 years, she had been employed at the Magnetics plant in East Butler.

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot and had taught C.C.D. classes there for more than 20 years.

Surviving are two sons, James Hockenberry of Butler and Jon-Paul Hockenberry of Dayton, Armstrong County; six grandchildren; two brothers, Harold C. Niggel Jr. of Butler and David Niggel and his wife, Susan, of East Petersburg, Lancaster County; two sisters, Patricia (Daniel) Coyle and Elizabeth (Ralph) Pincek, both of Butler; her former husband, Clayton "Pat" Hockenberry of Cabot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A son preceded her in death in 1991.

<B>HOCKENBERRY </B>— Family and friends of LaWanda A. Hockenberry, who died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Inurnment will be at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Butler. There will be no visitation.The family suggests that any memorial donations could be made to a charity of the donor's choice.Cremation services were provided by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler.
