SHOOP SHOP CLOSES
Mrs. Hazel Shoop sharpens her butcher knife to cut a steak on the butcher block at the Shoop and Shoop Market in December 1969. The store, located on Route 8 at the blinker light in Cooperstown, Middlesex Township, was closing at the end of that year. Operated by Hazel and her husband, Lawrence T. Shoop, the shop had been in operation for 43 years. It was founded in 1926 by Lawrence's father, Cyrus Shoop.
