Edward J. Burdett, 88, of Renfrew died Saturday.

Born June 5, 1921, in Ford City, he was the son of Miles and Genevra Burdett.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a graduate of Ford City High School and Indiana (Pa.) University.

He worked for PPG Industries his entire career. After retirement, he enjoyed horses and harness racing as an owner/trainer and participated at the local county fairs and at the Meadows racetrack.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jacquelyn E. Burdett; two sons, Michael E. Burdett of Butler and Christopher L. (Lisa) Burdett of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a daughter, Renee J. (William) Bercury of Slippery Rock.
