GIBSONIA — Jill Treglia was promoted to administrator of The Arbors at St. Barnabas, Gibsonia Campus.
The Arbors is a new 16-suite assisted living facility operated by St. Barnabas Health System on its Gibsonia campus along Meridian Road. Treglia will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, including staffing, reports and admissions. The assisted living facility opened earlier this month.
Treglia has been with the state Department of Social Services at St. Barnabas Nursing Home for five years. The Freeport High School graduate holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Westminster College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. Before joining St. Barnabas, she worked for Tandem Healthcare in Cheswick for three years.
Treglia lives in West Deer Township, Allegheny County, with her husband, Joseph, and their two children.
GIBSONIA — St. Barnabas Health System's board of trustees was re-elected to serve a one-year term.They are: John Curran, chairman, of Canonsburg; John Howell III, vice chairman, of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; John Turnbull, treasurer, of Hampton Township; William Day, secretary, of Richland Township; Thomas Schmidt of Shadyside; Joseph Scaletta of Pine Township; David Wohleber of Bethel Park and Robert Pfischner of Richland Township.
Butler Health System announced two recent promotions.• Carissa Emrick, a registered nurse, is now the director of Emergency Department Services, responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the Butler Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.A graduate of Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle, she has been with BMH since 1991. She has served as a staff nurse, clinical coordinator and case manager.Emrick helped to implement the Heart Failure Management program and is a member of the Consortium Ethics program. Now she is a co-facilitator of the Operations Improvement Team.• Erin Stewart, a registered nurse, was appointed to clinical supervisor of 6 Main, a general care floor.Stewart has worked at BMH since 2004, earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Waynesburg College in 2007 and is working on her master's degree that should be done by December 2010.She is the first BMH staff nurse to present to the Highmark panel. She also received the Butler Health System's Performance Improvement in Health Care Delivery certification, and in end-of-life nursing care, chemotherapy trained and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. She has served as a team leader and preceptor on 6 Main.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The National Association of Postmasters of the United States recently named Stan Ostwinch National Retired Postmaster of the Year for 2009.Ostwinch is the retired postmaster of the Butler Post Office. He received his award at the organization's September 2009 convention.
WASHINGTON — Orders to U.S. factories unexpectedly rose in October, the sixth gain in the past seven months. It was further evidence the manufacturing sector is beginning to recover, which will help support the overall economy.The Commerce Department said orders rose 0.6 percent in October, much better than the flat reading economists had expected. A jump in demand for commercial aircraft and petroleum products led the gain.
