Virginia C. McClain
Virginia C. McClain, 90, of Kepples Corners, Kittanning Pike, Chicora, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Karns City, March 17, 1919, and was a daughter of the late James Eden McCollough and Clara Jordan McCollough.
She was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir and served as a youth counselor.
She graduated from Karns City High School, Class of 1937.
She and her husband operated the Maples Restaurant in Karns City for a number of years.
She and her husband were foster parents in the 1970s.
She married J. Greer McClain on June 24, 1942, in Cumberland, Md., and he preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia I. Reinhardt of Chicora and Susan K. McClain of Plum; a son, J. Greer McClain "Sonny" and his wife, Lori, of Centerville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jason V. Hepler of Keystone Heights, Fla., Amanda J. Tison and her husband, Eugene K., of Stark, Fla., Alicia N. Hepler of Windermeer, Fla., Justin H. McClain and his wife, Casey, of Lebanon, Ohio, Amy Jo McClain of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Jonathan A. McClain of Springboro, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Stephanie A. Tison of Stark, Fla., Audrey Mae McClain of Lebanon, Ohio, and Michelle A. Tison of Stark, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Floyd and Frederick McCollough; and three sisters, Mary Dunmyre, Alice Green and Elsie Gaiser.
<B>MCCLAIN</B> — Friends of Virginia C. McClain, who died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia and from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the Karns City United Methodist Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev.
