Arthur "Art" W. Moore, 72, of Springfield Township, Mercer County, formerly of Portersville, died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at his home.

Born Oct. 13, 1937, in New Castle, he was the son of Blair F. Moore and Laura Ethel Boyd Moore.

He married Shirley Mae Vogan on July 23, 1955.

Mr. Moore was a former member of the White Chapel Methodist Church.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer and an avid Holstein dairy breeder. He belonged to the Mercer County Holstein Club, the Pennsylvania Holstein Association and the national Holstein association. He enjoyed showing his Holsteins at local, state and national shows, where he received numerous breeder and exhibitor awards. He was also a 4-H Leader of the Stonepile 4-H Dairy Club of Mercer County.

He enjoyed life and laughter. He especially enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have the same love for showing dairy cattle.

He is survived by his wife at home; two daughters, Debra M. Uber (and companion Charles Mezzara) of Mercer, Beverly S. (and husband Alan) Henry of Grove City; three sons, Dale W. (and wife Dana) Moore of Allison Park, Robert B. (and wife Lisa) Moore of Mercer, and Ralph E. Moore of Mercer; a sister, Loretta (and husband Donald) Pearse of Sunbury, Ohio; a brother, Loyal (and wife Marj) Moore of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

<B>MOORE</B> — Visitation for Arthur "Art" W. Moore, who died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ricky D. Nelson of White Chapel United Methodist Church officiating.
