Daniel R. Hawk
Daniel R. Hawk, 71, of 112 Baker St., Rimersburg, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in his home.
He was born March 30, 1938, in Widnoon, Armstrong County, the son of Burton and Della Beatty Hawk.
He graduated in 1956 from Union Joint High School in Rimersburg.
He was married March 12, 1960, to the former Eleanor L. Milliren, and she preceded him in death on April 14, 2006.
Mr. Hawk worked at the former Pullman Standard plant in Butler for 18 years. He and his wife then operated Hawk's Service Center in Rimersburg for many years, retiring in 1999. He also was a part-time deputy game warden for 12 years from 1977 to 1989, and he earlier served for many years on the Union School Board.
Mr. Hawk was a member of the Clarion Lodge 277 of the F&AM and the Rimersburg Rod and Gun Club.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Sulkosky and her husband, Bill, of Canonsburg; a son, Dana R. Hawk and his wife, Beth, of Sligo; a brother, Jobe Hawk and his wife, Liz, of Distant; three sisters, Bonnie Hawk of Shippenville, Connie Guntrum and her husband, Dan, of Rimersburg, and Jane Switzer and her husband, Gary, of Streetsboro, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Danara, Gavin and Marli Hawk.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Hawk.
<B>HAWK</B> — Friends of Daniel R. Hawk, who died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Varner Funeral Home </B>of Rimersburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Deeter, pastor of Wesleyan Methodist Church in Wildcat, will officiate. Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Rimersburg Veterans Museum and Park, Rimersburg, PA 16248.
