Ronald R. Christian, 83, of Zelienople, formerly of Ross Township, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday.

Born Oct. 3, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Richard and Irene (Jirak) Christian.

He proudly served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Christian received his bachelor of science engineering degrees from Hiram College and Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon), becoming a chemical engineer for the Calgon Corp. and U.S. Steel Tubular Products.

With great sorrow, we will miss this loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. With greater joy, we will remember the integrity, generosity and wisdom that graced our lives.

Mr. Christian attended St. Peter's Reformed Church, Zelienople.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemarie (Lowndes) Christian; sons, Mark Christian (Connie) of Wichita, Kan., and Eric Christian (Johanna) of Cary, N.C.; a daughter, Ellyn Snyder (Steven) of Harmony; his twin brother, Dr. Donald Christian (Gret) of Barnegat, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Christian (Anna-Marie), Stephen Christian, Matthew Christian, Emily Lenz (Daniel), Andrew Snyder, Brittany Christian, R. Rose Snyder and Daniel Christian.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Christian.

Christian, who died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community, 401 S. Main St., Zelienople, where funeral services will follow at noon with the Rev.
