CHARLOTTE, N.C. — He may be 32, but Ricky Williams is far from done. And even without Ronnie Brown, the once written-off Miami Dolphins are back in the playoff picture.

Williams rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Dolphins beat the Carolina Panthers 24-17 Thursday night for their fourth win in six games.

A day after learning Brown is lost for the season, the Dolphins (5-5) continued their surge after an 0-3 start behind Williams. The 2002 NFL rushing champion had a receiving and rushing touchdown in the same game for the first time in his career that included a couple lost seasons.

STILLWATER, Okla. — Third-string quarterback Brandon Weeden threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the second half, leading No. 12 Oklahoma State back from an 11-point deficit for a 31-28 win against Colorado Thursday night.With starter Zac Robinson injured and backup Alex Cate ineffective, Weeden took over in the second half and got the offense going for the Cowboys (9-2, 6-1 Big 12).

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University runner Jen Harpp will compete in the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships Saturday at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville.The senior, who is making her second straight appearance at nationals, will be looking for her second all-America nod after earning the honor during the indoor track and field season last year.Harpp placed 40th last season at the cross country championships. The top 30 earn all-America honors.

NEW YORK — President Barack Obama will appear with NFL players Troy Polamalu, Drew Brees and DeMarcus Ware in a public service announcement that will air during the league's Thanksgiving games.The 90-second spot shows Obama and the NFL stars playing touch football with children on the White House lawn. The PSA promotes the league's Play 60 campaign, which encourages physical activity to combat childhood obesity, and the president's community service initiative United We Serve.Obama wears a Chicago Bears jacket as he plays football with Brees, the New Orleans Saints quarterback, Polamalu, the Pittsburgh Steelers safety, and Ware, the Dallas Cowboys linebacker. A shorter version of the spot will air throughout the season.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson tells The Associated Press he's prepared to revamp his entire football operation after the season.Wilson said Thursday he'll make a full review and stresses there's a "lot of work to do." Wilson adds there could be changes at any position and it's possible he'll bring in a general manager with a football background or make a lucrative offer to land a high-profile coach.Wilson spoke by phone from his home in suburban Detroit two days after firing coach Dick Jauron and replacing him with defensive coordinator Perry Fewell for the rest of the season.The Bills are 3-6 and in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for a 10th straight year.

CHICAGO — Some teams lost money in 2009, baseball commissioner Bud Selig said after the final owners meeting of the year Thursday.Selig said final figures for this year are still being calculated and everyone is living in the most difficult economic times since the Great Depression. He declined to identify the teams.Major League Baseball's average attendance dropped 6.7 percent last season from an average of 32,528 in 2008 to an average of 30,350. Total attendance of 73.4 million was baseball's fifth-highest.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — An Olympic housing plan in which thousands of visitors would have stayed on cruise ships has been called off because of the rough economy.As many as seven ships would have been used for fans and sponsors as part of the multimillion-dollar plan by the DEAP Group. But there was not enough financing to go forward.Group president Greg Peart said Thursday that the demand for lodging also doesn't appear to be reaching the level tourism officials envisioned with less than three months until the games.Almost all of Vancouver's hotel rooms are booked by sponsors and Olympic officials.
