Kathleen L. DeSantis, 61, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler, March 22, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Betty Thomas Zarnick.

She was employed at the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV as a learning response adviser for Western Pennsylvania for 19 years.

She was a summa cum laude graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor's degree in special education and elementary education in the Class of 1988. She received a master's degree in special education from Duquesne University.

She is survived by her husband, Larry DeSantis, to whom she was married for 35 years; two sons, Justin DeSantis and his wife, Beth, of Butler and Adrian DeSantis and his fiancee, Brianne Hall, of Butler; one brother, Edward Zarnick of Butler; and one sister, Sally Aaron, of Butler.

<B>DESANTIS </B>— Friends of Kathleen L. DeSantis, who died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father James Dolan, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Michael Cemetery.The bereavement group of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home to conduct a scriptural wake service.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
