Aaron "AJ" Jonathon Rensel, 18, of Portersville tragically passed away Wednesday evening in a motor vehicle accident on East Portersville Road just outside of Prospect.

He was born June 13, 1991, in Butler and is the son of Aaron Paul and Deanna Lynn (Martin) Rensel.

AJ is a member of the 2009-10 Slippery High High School graduating class.

He was a cook at the Oakview Golf Club, Slippery Rock.

He played youth football for the Prospect Chiefs and was a two-year varsity letterman for the Slippery Rock High School Rockets football team.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed volunteering at the Portersville Food Pantry.

He is survived by his parents of Portersville; and one sister, Rachael Lee Thomas and one brother, Ethan Andrew Rensel, both at home. He also is survived by his maternal grandparents, John and Stephanne Martin of New Castle; five uncles, Bryan (Jenny) Martin of Fayetteville, N.C., Steve Martin, Doug (Jan) Martin and Harry (Shelley) Martin, all of New Castle, and David G. (Cheryl) Rensel of Butler; two aunts, Sherry (Marty) Hohn and Susan (Marty) Shulik, all of Butler; and a number of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Juanita Rensel.

<B>RENSEL</B> — Visitation for Aaron "AJ" Jonathon Rensel, who died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Prospect Fire Hall with the Rev. Robert S. Frye, pastor of the Portersville Alliance Church, officiating.
