Robert Joseph Pettigrew, 79, of Evans City passed away Wednesday at UPMC Passavant in North Hills.

Robert was born Oct. 31, 1931, and was the son of the late Nelson J. Pettigrew and Julia (Fair) Pettigrew.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. Pettigrew was a laborer at Samuel Smith Lumber Inc. for 40 years.

He is survived by a son, Robert N. (Brenda) Pettigrew of Butler; a daughter, Mrs. Jon (Karen) Tollerton of Evans City; two brothers, Mathew Pettigrew of Pittsburgh and Donald Pettigrew of East Liverpool, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Pettigrew is preceded in death by his wife, Susan E. (Hinkle) Pettigrew, who he married Aug. 10, 1963. She passed away in January 1991. He also was preceded in death by his brother and sister.
