Harry W. 'Bill' White
Harry W. "Bill" White, 68, of Butler died at 7:32 p.m. Monday in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1941, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Carl. E. White and Margaret M. Miller White.
Mr. White was a tool and die maker at Magnetics in East Butler, retiring in 1999.
He attended the Hill United Presbyterian Church.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served nine years.
Despite being in a wheelchair, Mr. White was an inspiration through his many volunteer activities. He was a life member of the Bantam Marine Corps League Detachment 743 and a life member of the VFW Post 249.
Mr. White was a former president of the Kiwanis, a former board member of the Butler County Historical Society and the site director of the Heritage Center in Butler. He was a member of the Bartramian Audubon Society, and he volunteered at the VA Butler Healthcare.
Mr. White is survived by one son and his wife, Christopher and Kelly White of Toledo, Ohio; two daughters, Heather and her husband, Ian Halper, of Mars and Holly and her husband, Jay Palmer, of Chillicothe, Ohio; four grandchildren, Zachary White, Rayna Halper, Ethan Palmer and Andersen Palmer. He also is survived by his beloved friend and companion, Dixie S. Reimold of Butler; his brother, Carl White Jr. and his wife, Lois, of Chandler, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. White was preceded in death by one brother, Walter White; and one sister, Carrie Stewart.
<B>WHITE</B> — Friends of Harry W. "Bill" White, who died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Clark Sawyer of Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating.
