Janet M. Earnest, 71, of Butler died Sunday at her home.

Born April 9, 1938, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas L. Alwine Sr. and Allene Wadding Alwine.

Janet worked for Air System Components in Tucson, Ariz., for 11 years until she became disabled in 1996.

She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.

Her husband of 53 years, Ronald L. Earnest Sr., who she married Jan. 1, 1956, survives. Also surviving are her son, Ronald Leo Earnest of Butler; three daughters and their spouses, Deborah Lynn and Rob Letke of Emlenton, Rhonda Lee Fritcher of Falen, Nev., and Margaret L. and Angel Mendez of Natrona Heights; a sister, Joyce A. (Alwine) Kirkwood and her husband, Kenneth, of East Butler; and two brothers, Nicholas L. Alwine Jr. of Butler and Allen Alwine and his wife, Linda, also of Butler. Eighteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

Two sons, Ronald L. Earnest Jr. and Robert L. Earnest Sr.; and one brother, Richard W. Alwine, preceded her in death.

<B>EARNEST </B>— There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass for Janet M. Earnest, who died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
