EDINBORO — Authorities say a two-car crash has killed three men, all students at Edinboro University.

State police say a car heading south at high speed on Draketown Road tried to pass another vehicle at the crest of a hill and hit an oncoming car at about 5:18 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the crash killed 18-year-old Domenico Crea of Erie and his passenger, 18-year-old John Eyrolles of Pittsburgh, neither of whom was wearing a seat belt. Also killed was the driver of the other car, 21-year-old Sheldon Harmon of Bolivar, N.Y., who was wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed from the scene.

Edinboro is about 15 miles south of Erie.

AMBRIDGE — Two suspects need attorneys and, perhaps, a plumber.Police in Ambridge say they arrested 32-year-old Douglas Biers Jr. and 33-year-old Elisabeth Moakley after the couple were seen standing — soaking wet — in an alley about 1 a.m. Wednesday.Police say the couple had tried to steal copper pipes from a vacant apartment building, not realizing that water service was still turned on inside.When police went inside the building, they saw water gushing from an overhead pipe.The couple are in the Beaver County Jail on burglary and other charges.

PITTSBURGH — Court officials in Pittsburgh have marked Veterans Day by establishing an Allegheny County Common Pleas Court to help veterans facing nonviolent offenses.The veterans court held by Judge John Zottola is aimed at keeping veterans out of jail and instead getting them treatment, especially for combat-related issues that contribute to their legal problems.The court is one of several the Department of Veterans Affairs has helped establish in the country.
