Floyd F. Kirker

Floyd F. Kirker, 81, of Mars died Sunday afternoon in the Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.

Born June 26, 1928, in Harmony, he was the son of the late Elmer and Martha Boyer Kirker.

He was a Protestant.

He worked for Gulf Oil as an assistant manager. He then worked for Freeport Transport and later as an independent driver. He then worked in security at Valencia Woods.

Mr. Kirker was a seaman 1st Class in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was a past commander of the Mars American Legion Post 787. He was a life member of the Mars Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Western Pennsylvanian Fireman Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Way Kirker on June 6, 1994, and also by one sister.

He is survived by three daughters, Charlene Bittner of Butler, Patricia (Edward) Williams of Christiana, Pa., and Debra (George) Mason of Mars; a son, Robert L. (Brenda) Kirker of Conneaut Lake; a sister, Ruth (Fred) Kriess of Renfrew; a brother, David L. Kirker of Zelienople; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

<B>KIRKER</B> — Relatives and friends of Floyd F. Kirker, who died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter deVries, pastor of the Old Union Church, Mars, officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union Church Cemetery.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Mars American Legion Post 787, the Adams Area Fire District, and the American Cancer Society, Butler Unit.
