Renée Spohn has been selected as Butler's inaugural Steel Magnolia Award honoree.Women who have overcome obstacles to positively impact the community are eligible to receive recognition in the program, funded by the AK Steel Foundation.Spohn, whose daughter has Down syndrome, has served as a fundraiser, management team member and coach for Special Olympics Butler County. Her career as a nurse also helps many in the community.Spohn was able to choose a charity to receive a $1,000 donation in honor of her selection. She selected Special Olympics Butler County.–––––––

Bonnie Raudebaugh of Slippery Rock earned an award for logging 1,000 hours in the American Quarter Horse Association horseback riding program.
