HERBS are used by TEENS to experience a high feeling - Salvia
Salvia Divinorum is in the same family of plants found outside of many homes in the country, but is a different species. It is found in Mexico and used by Mazatec healers and prophets. Information on this drug is still being discovered. It is not considered a party drug by researchers.
Salvia is a HALLUCINOGENIC DRUG similar to PCP and LSD.The HIGH is short lived, lasting only a few minutes to a couple hours at most. The intensity of the high will depend on the potency of the salvia and how it was consumed.SMOKING it will give you a quick, intense high that lasts a short amount of time.CHEWING it will provide you with a slower high that is longer lasting. When taking salvia orally, most people rinse with a mint mouthwash and brush their tongue to enhance the high.
Salvia Divinorum’s active principal is known as salvinorin-A, one of the most potent, naturally occurring VISION INDUCERS known. It is extracted from the leaves by using ETHANOL or ACETONE and evaporating it back onto other leaves to increase the potency.
EFFECTS: There are six levels of a salvia high, including subtle effects, which include relaxation, altered perception, short term memory difficulties, light visions, vivid visions, immaterial existence and an amnesic state.
WHAT'S THE LAW: As of 2008, there are nine countries that have made salvia illegal. As for the United States, salvia does not have a place under the Control Substances Act qualifying it as a Scheduled Drug. Legislation was proposed in 2002 to make it part of the act. There are certain states that have listed salvia as a Schedule I drug under their laws. Delaware passed a law in 2006, which only covers salvia in its natural form. Extracts and more potent forms of the drug are legal to possess, purchase, sell and consume. Many states that have passed similar laws have this same issue.
