Marlene A. Shoop
Marlene A. Shoop, 76, of Zelienople died Tuesday surrounded by her family.
Born Feb. 8, 1933, in Natrona Heights, she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie (Callen) Zemla.
Mrs. Shoop was a longtime member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, where she taught a crocheting class. She also was a member of the Women of the Moose.
Mrs. Shoop volunteered her time by crocheting more than 1,000 caps for the Caps for Kids program, providing warm caps for premature babies and knit caps to underprivileged children overseas. She also served students in the cafeteria at Seneca Valley High School for 29 years.
Mrs. Shoop enjoyed crocheting, camping, boating and dining at restaurants, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd C. Shoop; and five children, Teresa Lukes and her husband, Richard, of Fombell, Michael Shoop and his wife, Lisa, of Butler, Sandra Witney and her husband, Robert, of Zelienople, Angela Alberth and her husband, Christopher, of Fombell and Valerie Armstrong and her husband, Dexter, of Ellwood City. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Zemla.
<B>SHOOP</B> — Friends of Marlene A. Shoop, who died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.
