Thrower

Ralph Staley Thrower, 81, of Osprey, Fla., formerly of Saxonburg, died Wednesday at his son's residence in Saxonburg.

Born July 22, 1928, in Clinton Township, he was the son of Matthew and Margaret Staley Thrower.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer, and his farm was a Butler County Century Farm.

He was a member of the Butler County Farm Bureau and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sarver.

He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, hunting and watching his grandchildren's sports activities.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Norton-Thrower; five sons, Kent (Judy) Thrower of Saxonburg, Keith (Susan) Thrower of Butler, Doug (Michelle) Thrower of Colorado Springs, Colo., Joe (Roseann) Thrower of Saxonburg and Jay Thrower of Saxonburg; his daughter, Donna (Ronald) Armahizer of Saxonburg; his sister, Betty Murtland of Sayre, Bradford County; his stepdaughter, Patricia Eisenbach of Sarasota, Fla.; his stepson, Charles Norton of Zanesville, Ohio; his stepson, Robert (Carol) Norton of Zanesville, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Betty Jean (Harmon) Thrower, who died March 15, 1999; two sisters, Grace T. Swartz and Jean Thrower; a brother, Thomas Thrower; and a grandson, Quintin Thrower.

<B>THROWER</B> — Friends of Ralph Staley Thrower, who died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
