ORIGINAL MEMBERS
John Heyser of Butler, cello; Frank Demeter of Harmony, violin; Louis Paganelli of Lyndora, viola; and Charles Norton of Mars, clarinet, gather Oct. 10, 1973, to do publicity for the Butler County Symphony Association's opening concert of its 25th anniversary season. The four men played in the symphony's first concert on April 17, 1950, as well as most other seasons leading up the anniversary. The association kicked off its 61st season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium of Butler Intermediate High School. The theme of the 2009-10 season is "The Dream of America," which will be a musical journey representing immigrants' influence and contributions to American music. Saturday's concert's theme was "Coming to America."
