Robert B. Berrigan

Robert B. Berrigan, 86, of Slippery Rock, formerly of New Castle, died at 8:43 p.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Beaver Falls, Feb. 5, 1923, he was the son of John Francis Berrigan and Estella M. Bowers Berrigan.

He was married to Margaret Vasco.

Mr. Berrigan was the owner and president of the Ellwood City Pattern Works until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Slippery Rock.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and a 60-year member of Lodge 69 B.P.O.E. of New Castle.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Berrigan of Slippery Rock; four daughters, Michol A. Berrigan of Slippery Rock and Susan G. Spak and her husband, Stanley F., of Slippery Rock, Margaret E. Wheale and her husband, Timothy W., of Elizabethtown and Emily B. Kirkwood and her husband, Jack D., of Portersville; and a son, Edward G. Berrigan of Elmer City, Wash. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John "Jack" F. and Eugene L. Berrigan.

<B>BERRIGAN </B>— Visitation for Robert B. Berrigan, who died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. A funeral Mass will be observed at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Father Kevin G. Poecking, pastor of St. Peter Church, officiating. Interment will be at St. Anthony Cemetery, Harrisville.Memorial contributions may be given to the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard, Slippery Rock.
