Janet Louise Griffin
Janet Louise Hoffman Griffin, 67, of Porter Road, Harrisville, passed away Saturday at home after a brief illness.
Born July 3, 1942, in Grove City, she was the daughter of Norman M. Hoffman who passed away Nov. 2 1997, and Anna Margaret "Cassedy" Hoffman, who passed away July 23, 1982.
Mrs. Griffin graduated from Victory Joint High School in 1960.
On Dec. 8, 1973, in the Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville, she married Donald M. Griffin, who survives.
Mrs. Griffin retired from Mercer County State Bank in Clintonville after 34 years.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville, where she had served on several committees. She also was an ordained elder, choir member, former Sunday school teacher, a member of the Missionary Society and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Griffin also attended the Hickory Grove Church of God.
She was the current president and a member of the Clintonville Woman's Club. Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Scrubgrass Grange.
Mrs. Griffin enjoyed sewing and quilting and had made several quilts since retiring. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two stepchildren, Rodney Griffin and his wife, Melissa, of Franklin and Deborah Sweetapple and her husband, Rod, of Clintonville; her grandchildren, Jarrad G. Griffin and his wife, Kaitlin, of Franklin, Casie Griffin of Chesapeake, Va., Carly and Caleb Griffin of Franklin, Ray Sweetapple and his wife, Melissa, of Franklin and Randie Sweetapple of Kennerdell; three great-granddaughters, Isabel, Lyra and Bethany; three brothers, James N. Hoffman and his wife, Sharon, of Harrisville, Robert J. Hoffman and his wife, Cheryl, of Franklin and David L. Hoffman and his wife, Patti, of Clintonville; and one sister, Peggy J. McElhinney of Harrisville. She also is survived by an aunt and uncle, Jack and Grace Cassedy of Kennerdell and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Michael McElhinney, who passed away Aug. 10, 2009.
<B>GRIFFIN</B> — The family of Janet Louise Hoffman Griffin, who died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Anthony Catullo, from the Union Presbyterian Church of Clintonville, officiating.
